Common questions
I have forgotten the grown-ups' PIN.
There is no reset link, because the PIN never leaves your device and we have no copy of it to send you. Deleting and reinstalling the app clears it — but that also clears every learner's progress, so treat it as a last resort.
After five wrong tries the pad locks for a minute. That is deliberate, and waiting is the only way through it.
Will my child's progress survive a new phone?
No. Everything is stored on the device and nowhere else, so a new phone starts empty. That is the direct cost of collecting nothing — there is no account to sign into and no server holding a copy.
A lesson video will not play.
Lessons stream from Alif's Cloudflare-hosted media library, so they need a working internet connection. If a lesson fails, the screen offers a retry. If it keeps failing on one particular page, tell us which page number and we will check that clip.
How do I add another child?
Progress tab → Grown-ups → add a learner. Each child keeps their own progress, stars and assignments. A first name or even a single initial is enough; nothing needs a real or full name.
The handwriting practice is not marking my child right or wrong.
That is intended. The app checks that the letter has actually been traced, then lets the child decide when they are happy with it. Nothing on the device can fairly judge whether a written ح is well formed, and pretending otherwise would mean marking good handwriting wrong.
A page's practice does not match my copy of the book.
Please tell us the page number. The lessons follow the video for each page, and where a page's exact contents have not yet been confirmed against a printed copy, the practice is built from the curriculum stage that page belongs to. The Course screen marks which units are confirmed and which are still to be checked.
Does the app need the microphone?
Only for the Sound Check activity, where a learner records themselves reading and listens back. Recordings are never saved or uploaded. Declining the permission leaves everything else in the app working.
